Initial Assessment

To successfully deploy a network, one needs to consider the environment it will be deployed in. This consists of determining the following:

  • RF Baseline measurement – to ensure there are no interferers or any electric/electronic equipment that can limit the potential of your network, one needs to perform RF measurements in the environment.
  • Site infrastructure – existing infrastructure that can/can’t be used for your network.
  • Power supply – current power supply (availability/reliability) as well as backup power in place to ensure uptime for the network.
  • Maintenance/network operating team – suitable team able to operate the network and all aspects of it.

This has a major impact on the final design and costing, as it could potentially need to form part of the network as well as need to be included in your overall OPEX/CAPEX costing estimate.
